Braids Are A Great Summer Hairstyle
Braids are popular to have for girls but during the summer months, having braids makes it easier to have long hair. The humidity in the summer can make it hard to style your hair along with the heat; it makes most women wanting to get a shorter hairstyle for the summer. Braids not only help to cool your head down but also help to keep your hair out from your face. The one problem that braids can cause is that they tend to dry the hair and also the scalp. It is important to properly take care of your braids so that your hair does not become too dry and to help keep your scalp from becoming dry as well.
There are a few things you can do to help your hair before you get braids. You will want to have a deep moisture treatment before getting the braids done, as this will keep your hair moist during the process. Some salons will use a deep conditioning treatment throughout the hair with oil or cream based conditioners. Leaving the conditioner in the hair for an extended period of time will help with the process.
Having your hair braided tight or getting micro braids can deplete the hair from the natural moisture that helps the hair thrive. By depleting this natural moisture, it can lead to having damaged hair. Breakage in the hair can be fixed over time but having braids makes it harder for your hair to fix itself as the braids are the cause of the breakage. Conditioners are the most important part of having braids as they will help keep your hair moist, while you have the braids.
The sun, chlorine in pools or salt within the ocean are other ways that can contribute to your hair being too dry. It’s important to try and stay away from chlorine or salts while you have braids in your hair.
