Many people prefer to use styling products in their hair to help create a certain look, but many people overlook styling gel.  Gel was a popular styling product in the 1980’s and 1990’s but often gets overlooked today, but is needed if you plan on creating your own funky hairstyle.

Hair gel is used for both men and women’s hairstyles.  Styles including slicking hair back, sticking hair straight up as in a Mohawk style, keeping curls in place or keeping hair straight, creating a “bed head” look (tousled but stylish, but as if the person just rolled out of bed), side swept bangs, “preppy” styles, and “punk” styles.  There are so many funky hairstyles you can create using hair gel.

How much hair gel you will need depends on the length of your hair and they style you wish to wear.  There are also different types or strengths of gel.  For example you would need to use a firm holding gel to accomplish a Mohawk.  A medium strength gel would work great for styles that need just a little help to create.  There is also a gel to help your curly hair hold its curl and to enhance its natural beauty.

Faux Hawk – Faux Hawk Hairstyle

There are many different unique hairstyles out there these days but the Faux Hawk is one hairstyle that is really different. So many people have been doing different and unique things to their hair and have been creating some new styles such as the Faux Hawk hairstyle. From short hair in the back of the head to long hair up front and from highlights to multiple colors used on the head, this is sometimes frequently seen in the faux hawk. Most of the time the faux hawk hairstyle is done with straight hair but if you have curly hair this is a hair style is still possible.

A flat iron is not normally used on guy’s hair as their hair is normally shorter than a girl’s hair. It also might be difficult to straighten short hair, especially for a guy who is not used to the whole idea of a flat iron.
