What You Can Do With Short Hair

Depending on how short your hair is, there are quite a few different things that can be done with it other than the basic straightening.  If your hair is really short, for example, cut in a pixie cut, then most likely you would only be able to straighten it.  You may however be able to use a hair wax or pomade and create some edgy chunks to create a messy style, or you may choose to use that same wax or pomade to create a super sleek hairstyle.

If your short hair is a bit longer say down to you jaw line you can try a few different things.  First you could try to use hot rollers to create some nice curls in your hair.  This look can be very fun if you want to change your hairstyle only for the night.  You can create a soft messy look with soft curls that will add volume and bounce in your hair.  The other option you may want to try is straightening your hair, which will create a nice sleek hairstyle.  If your hair is wavy or curly this option can change your hairstyle dramatically.

Depending on your hair texture there are many styling products you can use to also change the look of your short hair.  Try using a mousse if you have curly or wavy hair to help enhance your wave or curl.  A wax or pomade could be used if you want to try a sleek hairstyle or if you want to create some edgy pieces in your hair.  Have fun experimenting, even though you have short hair there are many things you can try to change up your look.

Trying to decide if a pixie hairstyle is right for you?  It is a good idea to look at some pictures before making a decision.  While the pixie haircut is a very popular and cute hairstyle it is one that can not be easily worn by many.  There are many great places to search for pictures of pixie hairstyles.

The first is an online search.  There are hundreds of photo galleries on the internet with pictures of pixie cut hairstyles.  You can use Google, Yahoo, Bing, Altavista etc. to locate different galleries.  Once there they provide ideas, and even step by step ways to create the same looks.

The second place is fashion magazines.  Many celebrities are sporting pixie haircuts these days, and you can get great ideas from looking at how they are wearing their hair.  Another way to find pictures of this hairstyle is to look through hair style magazines.  These magazines often feature celebrity hairstyles as well as pictures of other women wearing great pixie cuts.

The third place to find pictures of the pixie hair cut is at an actual hair salon.  Most salons keep current hairstyle books up front for customers to browse through to help them find ideas.  These books are a great way for a client to find what they are looking for while also being able to provide the stylist with not only an idea but a picture to help them see just exactly what it is the client is after.

If you have paid any attention to the media this last year chances are you have heard of the movie and book series “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer.  There is a character in her series named Alice Cullen played by actress Ashley Greene.  Ashley and her character Alice have single handedly made the Pixie haircut popular this year.

The pixie cut is a wonderfully short hairstyle where the hair is cut just above the earlobes.  It is usually cut in nice short layers and can be worn messy or sleek.  The pixie hairstyle is easy to manage and is a very simple hairstyle which can help you look put together with just a little effort.

To style the pixie haircut you need to wash, dry and add a small amount of product to your fingers and work it in to your hair.  Mess your hair and go.  If you want a sleek look wash your hair and add some pomade or wax to your hair, shape with your fingers or brush and let it dry.  You may also choose to use a round brush while drying your hair to help you create some lift and curl in your pixie haircut which will create a fuller looking cut.

Remember that not all face shapes can wear the pixie cut.  Pixie cuts are generally best worn on oval faces, as well as some rectangular shaped faces.  Pixie cuts are not best on round faces or heart shaped faces.
