What You Can Do With Short Hair

Sienna Miller Short HairWhat You Can Do With Short Hair

Depending on how short your hair is, there are quite a few different things that can be done with it other than the basic straightening.  If your hair is really short, for example, cut in a pixie cut, then most likely you would only be able to straighten it.  You may however be able to use a hair wax or pomade and create some edgy chunks to create a messy style, or you may choose to use that same wax or pomade to create a super sleek hairstyle.

short hair cut styleIf your short hair is a bit longer say down to you jaw line you can try a few different things.  First you could try to use hot rollers to create some nice curls in your hair.  This look can be very fun if you want to change your hairstyle only for the night.  You can create a soft messy look with soft curls that will add volume and bounce in your hair.  The other option you may want to try is straightening your hair, which will create a nice sleek hairstyle.  If your hair is wavy or curly this option can change your hairstyle dramatically.

Depending on your hair texture there are many styling products you can use to also change the look of your short hair.  Try using a mousse if you have curly or wavy hair to help enhance your wave or curl.  A wax or pomade could be used if you want to try a sleek hairstyle or if you want to create some edgy pieces in your hair.  Have fun experimenting, even though you have short hair there are many things you can try to change up your look.

Prom Updo For Thick Curly Hair

When thinking of prom and how to style your hair in an updo, girls with thick curly hair seem to have the advantage over the girls who do not.  The girls with out thick and curly hair will need to create volume on their own with the use of hot rollers or curling irons to help create lift and volume needed for an updo.

One elegant style you can try is a ringlet inspired updo.  To accomplish this hairstyle you will need to wash your hair at least twenty four hours before you want to wear this updo, as dirty hair works better to keep and hold the curls in place.  After you wash your hair use a diffuser to help create tight ringlets in your naturally curly hair.  If you do not have naturally curly hair you will need to set your hair overnight on tiny rag, foam or spiral curlers to create a lot of tight curls.  Once you have your curls created you will need to form a half ponytail in your hair and then loop that half ponytail around itself to create a loop.  Pin this with bobby pins to hold the loop in place.  Once this step is done you can take the bottom half of your hair and part it in the middle.  Take one section and pull up toward the base of the half ponytail.  Pin the curls as close to the base of the half ponytail to create balance.  Repeat with the other side of your parted hair and secure with bobby pins.  Once you have completed the steps you will have created a beautiful ringlet updo.

Another great prom updo for curly thick hair is a curly halfdo.  To get this look you simply use a curling iron or hot rollers to add curl to your hair, if it is straight, if not use a styling product to enhance your already natural curls.  Pull your hair back at the sides just above the ears and pin it up allowing some of the curls to hang softly to add volume and the appearance of an easy relaxed look.

Ways To Put Your Hair Up – Hair Up Dos

Posted by Hair Styles

ponytail hair up do styleWays To Put Your Hair Up – Hair Up Dos

There are many reasons why girls put their hair up: to keep their hair out of their face, they ran out of time to style it, to look nice or have a formal hair style such as, a wedding, prom or dance hairstyle. There are a few hair up dos you can do from home.

  • The classic ponytail is the most popular style to put your hair up. The main reason for this style is to keep the hair out of the girls face, for sports or because she does not want to mess with styling her hair right then. It is easy to do, by sweeping all of your hair to the back of your head as high on your head as you want and then securing it in place with an elastic band of some type.
  • A loose bun is not as popular but it’s a hairstyle women tend to wear when they are in the mood to relax. All you do is put your hair up in a ponytail like before but twist it into a loose bun and add a head band to have your casual, relaxed hairstyle.
  • The last style would be a more formal hair updo. Usually this is done with help from a professional stylist, a friend or family member and sometimes takes longer to finish. You pull your hair back and put a bump in your hair on the top of the head, while sweeping it back into a clip. You will have to use some kind of product such as, hairspray to hold this style in place. There are accessories you can buy such as ‘Bump-its’ to help keep your hair in place.

Another style would be to add to the existing ponytail by adding the French braid, which is like the normal braid but only starting at the top of your head.

Curly Updos – How To Style Curly Updos

Posted by Hair Styles

styling curly updosWhen styling naturally curly hair in an updo there are a few things that need to be considered in order to ensure the best style has been created.

It is best to create an updo when your curly hair has not been recently washed, at least 24 hours is best.  This will allow your hairs natural oils to help keep the style in place.  Along with hairs natural oils, styling products will also help enhance the updo.  Try using pomade or gel to help create the look you want.

Be careful not to use too much styling product in your curly hair as it will weigh the hair down and cause your hair to look dirty and unclean.  Try using as little styling product as possible while still maintaining your hairs natural curl.  When styling your curly hair in an updo it is also important to remember that your hairs body and volume should be created before you pin it up.  Doing this first will ensure that your hair will be full of life and volume even pulled up in an updo.

Here are a few reminders for once your curly hair is styled in a nice updo.  Remember a few extra bobby pins in case of a hair emergency.  Natural movement can undo hair that has not been pinned up well enough.  Pack a travel size bottle of hair spray and give your hair a spray every few hours to keep your curls in place and in shape.  Try to do this every few hours and you will have sweet success.
