Prom is one of the most important days of a school year.  Prom is a fun time in which many women are looking for a beautiful formal hairstyle.  Thankfully there are many styles to choose from when looking for your perfect prom hairstyle.  Finding your perfect prom hairstyle can be as easy as finding your inspiration through hairstyle galleries on the internet, fashion magazines and even hairstyling books at the salon.

When searching for your perfect prom hairstyle there are a few things to consider.  The first is the type of dress you will be wearing.  Will it be long, short, form fitting or a-line?  The next thing to consider is your face shape.  Not every hairstyle looks good on every face shape.  So it is best to consider your facial shape when considering your hairstyle so that you look your best on prom night.

There are many places to find inspiration for your prom hairstyle.  The first is an online search.  There are hundreds of photo galleries on the internet with pictures of beautiful formal and semi formal hairstyles.  You can use Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. to locate different galleries.  Once there they provide ideas, and even step by step ways to create the same looks.

The third place to find pictures to inspire your prom hairstyle is at an actual hair salon.  Most salons keep current hairstyle books up front for customers to browse through to help them find ideas.  These books are a great way for a client to find what they are looking for while also being able to provide the stylist with not only an idea but a picture to help them see just exactly what it is the client is after.

Taking Care Of Thick Curly Hair

Thick Curly HairTaking Care Of Thick Curly Hair

Thick and curly hair can be a beautiful combination however it may also be a difficult combination to maintain.  Difficult because styling this type of hair requires some effort.  For example many styles require straightening the hair and over time the heat and damaged caused from a flat iron takes its toll.  Here are a few ideas to help maintain thick curly hair.

The first idea is to use a good conditioner in your hair regularly.  Using a good conditioner for your thick and curly hair will help you have better control over it and will help your hair to be healthy and shiny.  Conditioner is a good idea no matter what type of hair you have however thick curly hair tends to be coarse and can really benefit from conditioning.

Another idea is to have your thick curly hair trimmed often.  This will help your hair remain healthy as well as give your hair a nice style.  Thick, curly hair is a beautiful combination and with a few little steps in your routine you can maintain this hair with ease.

Hair Dye For Blonde Hair Mishaps

The practice of dying hair is extremely popular and is one of the biggest fashion trends of today. People dye their hair for many reasons which include, to express yourself, cover up gray hair, add color to your hairstyle and just for fun. Having your hair professionally dyed can be expensive depending on what salon you go to. Since hair dye has become so popular and expensive do-it-yourself hair color kits have become a great alternative to salon visits. There are many ways of creating your own hair color using kool aid, or you can purchase a package of a specific color that you are looking for. Blonde hair dye is one of the most popular hair dye colors people pick, not only to dye their entire head but people use blonde to also highlight parts of their hair.

When you dye your own hair blonde its important to follow the steps on the back of the box, otherwise you might find yourself with a green head or a color that is not close to blonde. If you find your hair turning green, its most likely the color coming out of your already dark hair strands and you may need to reapply another coat of bleaching dye. Be sure to apply dish soap to the hair to wash out the green color and it may take a few tries to get the green color out of your hair. If you do not feel comfortable with doing this yourself you can always go to a salon and they will mix up the correct amount of dye to fix your hair. The great thing about hair dye is that you can always find a fix.

If your hair is dyed and you want to dye it back to a darker color, this will work but you have to remember that every time you dye your hair you are risking the possibility of damaging it. Its best to only dye your hair once, maybe twice to keep from damaging the hair itself as hair dye is strong against your hair. If you end up damaging your hair and then want to get it fixed at a local salon it may cost you more money than you may be willing to spend on fixing your hair color.

If you have any questions about hair dye, then please “Ask The Hairstylist” a question and we will post the response here.

Styling A Blunt Cut Bob Haircut

How To Style A Blunt Cut Bob

Nothing makes fine hair look thicker than a bob hairstyle.  One great way to have your hair styled is with a blunt cut.  The blunt cut bob has straight and unblended edges, creating almost a 90 degree angle.  There are a few ways to style this type of haircut.

If you have curly hair a blunt cut bob could be a little high maintenance.  Curly hair will need to be straightened every day in order to show off the blunt cut in this hairstyle.  But if you do not mind straightening your hair this cut will be a fun style to sport.  For curly hair you will need to use a bit of styling product to help keep your hair sleek and straight.  Wash and dry your hair and apply the styling product. Once you have the product in your hair use a flat iron to straighten several pieces of hair a time.  The flat iron will allow you to create a very blunt look, meaning that all of your hair is straight and even or you may choose to use the flat iron to blend the cut a bit.

For straight hair a blunt cut bob is a great way to go.  This hairstyle adds volume to thin hair and you too can style it in different ways.  You may choose to add a sleek and shine product to your hair to give it an extra shine and glamorous look.  As well as using a flat iron to also create that sleek straight blunt look.  A key element to the blunt cut bob is your bangs.  One of the distinct things about a blunt cut bob are the bangs which are cut just like the rest of the hair in a straight even line.  No fringe or wisps.  To maintain the sleek blunt edges of this hairstyle it is best to have your hair trimmed every six weeks.
