If you have paid any attention to the media this last year chances are you have heard of the movie and book series “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer.  There is a character in her series named Alice Cullen played by actress Ashley Greene.  Ashley and her character Alice have single handedly made the Pixie haircut popular this year.

The pixie cut is a wonderfully short hairstyle where the hair is cut just above the earlobes.  It is usually cut in nice short layers and can be worn messy or sleek.  The pixie hairstyle is easy to manage and is a very simple hairstyle which can help you look put together with just a little effort.

To style the pixie haircut you need to wash, dry and add a small amount of product to your fingers and work it in to your hair.  Mess your hair and go.  If you want a sleek look wash your hair and add some pomade or wax to your hair, shape with your fingers or brush and let it dry.  You may also choose to use a round brush while drying your hair to help you create some lift and curl in your pixie haircut which will create a fuller looking cut.

Remember that not all face shapes can wear the pixie cut.  Pixie cuts are generally best worn on oval faces, as well as some rectangular shaped faces.  Pixie cuts are not best on round faces or heart shaped faces.

Pixie Haircuts – How To Style A Pixie Hair Cut

Celebrities have been using the pixie hair cuts for year because they are a great hairstyle. Ever since celebrities started getting the pixie hair cut, it has been getting popular among the general population.

Here is the best way to style your pixie hair cut, but first it depends on the length of your hair, do not be surprised if you need a quick hair cut or trim. The best length for the pixie hair style is short to medium length or hair that falls just to the bottom of your ears, maybe an inch longer.

To style the pixie haircut you will need a flat iron, some type of hair wax and some hairspray. First you will need to plug in your flat iron to start heating it up. Take a small quarter size of wax and rub it on your hands, comb it through your hair with your finger tips putting a little extra wax on the ends of your hair.

The next step is to take your heated up flat iron and begin to straighten your hair. As you bring the flat iron down to the bottom of your hair, you will want to flip the top layers outward while flipping the bottom layers downward. If your hair is not holding, you may need to apply more wax, but be careful to not apply too much as you do not want it to look like you have a lot of product in your hair.

Once you have completely straightened your hair you might find the need to add some hairspray to hold it in place. The wax is to make your hair hold the shape that you desire while the hair spray will hold the hair in place and from fizzing out. Adding hairspray is not necessary, but may be depending on the weather conditions. If it’s a windy day or you are driving a car with the windows down your hair will need just a little extra strength from moving around. This is the best way to style a pixie haircut.
