When you think of a formal event what do you think about your hair?  Do you associate formal events with updos?  Although many people have the misconception that wearing your hair down is not formal there are many styles that can be worn with you hair down that create a beautiful formal look.  These hairstyles will be able to be worn to dinner, dancing, theater, or even charity events.

When styling you hair for a formal event the first thing you should take into consideration is the condition of your hair.  Wearing your hair down is a wonderful idea, but you will want your hair to have a healthy glow and a nice polished look,  to help achieve this it is a good idea to use a deep conditioning treatment.  Using a deep conditioning treatment can be done at home with the use of hot oil or deep conditioning hair mask the day before the formal event.

Next you will need to decide how you would like to wear your hair.  A beautiful look that can be worn as a formal hairstyle is having your hair curled with beautiful, full curls.  To create this look if you don not have naturally curly hair is to wash your hair at least 24 hours before the event, doing this will help ensure that your hair will hold the curl.  Using hot rollers or rag ties curl you hair and let it set.  Once the curls are in your hair gently style them so that they cascade down your head.  To finish the hairstyle add a small hair accessory such as a jeweled clip or bobby pin to pin back a few curls.

Wearing your hair down is a wonderful way to create a formal look without having to wear an updo.  So next time you have a formal event to attend consider wearing your hair down.

An Updo For Short Hair – Updo Hairstyles

updo for short hairAn Updo For Short Hair – Updo Hairstyles

Short hair can be such a fun way to wear your hair, and with a little effort you can even put your short hair up to create a casual updo.  Depending on the length of your short hair you can pull it all back to create a fun casual look.

One fun way to create a casual short updo is take your bed head, hair that has been slept on and not washed the next morning, and pin it to the crown of your head to create a messy updo.  This style can be a great one if you are running late for the office or if you just want to wake up and go.  With just a few quick steps you can be on your way out the door with out much effort.

You can also create a casual updo with your short hair by again taking pieces of your short hair and pinning the up to the back of your head, but you can also change the look by the use of your bangs.  If you want your bangs to be down you may choose to have them slicked down to the side.  To create this look you can use a wax or pomade to give your bangs that nice sleek look, or if you choose you can pull your bangs back and incorporate them with your updo.  This too will give you a different look that can add volume to your hair.

Having short hair does not have to limit you in what hairstyles you can try.  Casual updos are a fun way to wear your short hair so why not give them a try?

What You Can Do With Short Hair

Depending on how short your hair is, there are quite a few different things that can be done with it other than the basic straightening.  If your hair is really short, for example, cut in a pixie cut, then most likely you would only be able to straighten it.  You may however be able to use a hair wax or pomade and create some edgy chunks to create a messy style, or you may choose to use that same wax or pomade to create a super sleek hairstyle.

short hair cut styleIf your short hair is a bit longer say down to you jaw line you can try a few different things.  First you could try to use hot rollers to create some nice curls in your hair.  This look can be very fun if you want to change your hairstyle only for the night.  You can create a soft messy look with soft curls that will add volume and bounce in your hair.  The other option you may want to try is straightening your hair, which will create a nice sleek hairstyle.  If your hair is wavy or curly this option can change your hairstyle dramatically.

Depending on your hair texture there are many styling products you can use to also change the look of your short hair.  Try using a mousse if you have curly or wavy hair to help enhance your wave or curl.  A wax or pomade could be used if you want to try a sleek hairstyle or if you want to create some edgy pieces in your hair.  Have fun experimenting, even though you have short hair there are many things you can try to change up your look.
